Waste Reduction

Home » Environment » Waste Reduction

We have strong internal programs in our operations to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill. We separate and recycle or repurpose our food byproduct, oil, paper and corrugate to limit the amount of waste that ends up in a landfill.

Pecan shells from our Selma, TX shelling facility are burned in a biomass boiler to generate steam heat for processing.
Walnut shells from our Gustine, CA shelling facility are used at dairy farms for animal bedding. When the bedding is soiled it is then mixed with other materials and composted.
Food not suitable for human consumption is repurposed in our Fisher Retail store and sold to customers as wildlife food for animals.
We generate around 280,000 lbs of oil byproduct per year during our manufacturing process. All of our oil byproduct gets a second life as either biodiesel fuel or methane gas.
